Web 2.0 is dated. This blog is about writing for Web 2.Oh! Writers who write in the Web 2.Oh world know that now is when we can truly self-publish and make a living -- at sites like HubPages.
How do writers make a living without drudgery and query letters? Web 2.Oh writers know. I submit the best place is HubPages, and you may well find this blog carries a pro-HubPages.com slant. The reason is simple.
In addition to HubPages' ultra-cool staff, like one Ryan Hupfer, whose duties include cheerleading and helping "hubbers" enjoy the self-publishing experience at HubPages, the site is easy to use, and shares revenue on a straightforward 60/40-split basis.
All you need is your own Adsense code (which the site will help you acquire if you lack it), and 60% of the time the Google ads on your hubs are yours. The other 40% goes into HubPages' coffers -- they have to make money, after all.
Others may tell you that Squidoo or Helium are great places to write. I submit that HubPages is better -- because they are straightforward with what percentage you will make from your revenue streams.
Most other self-publishing sites use complicated, proprietary formulas. HubPages keeps it simple with a 60/40-split on Adsense (and they have other revenue streams to boot!) -- nothing too complicated about that!
At Web 2.Oh Writer, I will be exploring the best ways to write and make money online. We're not going to talk about things that are fly-by-night here, but I am keen to help you break free of your day job and full-on write for a living.
